Locastic and OmoLab win Digital Takeover awards!

Digital Takeover is one of the finest digital conferences in the region, organized by the largest Croatian media publisher – 24sata. The conference shines with really good talks and panel discussions. Even the networking session has its perks, considering that the event takes place in a huge cinema.

The final conference part features the famous Digital Takeover award distribution ceremony. During that part, the so-called Digital Business Leaders receive the recognition in five project categories, and the list includes some really prominent names. This time around, the giants in the shape of Croatian Post, ZABA and Croatian Telecom joined the stage with a few smaller companies from Split and Osijek.

Locastic and OmoLab are the Digital Business Leaders award-winners in the socially-responsible category for the OmoReader app.

The funny thing is that we never applied for this award, and the whole news came across as a positive surprise. The award itself feels like a great recognition and confirmation that we are doing a great job at Locastic.

It means that people who follow our work think it has additional value, and we appreciate that. It gives us confirmation that we are moving in the right direction.

We should use technology to help people

The main goal of technology should be to help people and improve their life. The main focus of mankind is to use technology to earn money and make more profit – and that’s devastating. If we don’t use technology to assist people and help them overcome their disabilities, it means that we are doing something wrong.

“If we don’t use technology to assist people and help them overcome their disabilities, it means that we are doing something wrong.”

The OmoReader app was one of those projects where we used technology to help people resolve their everyday problem. The app already assisted more than a thousand people to overcome their issues, according to feedback and analytics.

It also makes us proud that our partner OmoLab decided to modify the app and prepare it for the global market.

Spontaneous applause for the team

During the award ceremony, I briefly touched upon the development process. I said that the biggest reward and applause should go to the development team. They were the ones in charge of developing and delivering an entire application with all of its innovative features.

Slobodan Dragošević was in charge of UX/UI design, while our Quality Assurance guy Relja Zulim and developers Davor Duhović, Frane Poljak, Luka Smolčić and Pero Lipotić took over the development process.

“The feeling is great, but our biggest reward is knowing that our work actually helped someone. It doesn’t get any better than that!”

Also, we’d like to show appreciation towards our client Petar Reić from OmoLab who believed in the team during the early stages. Petar is a great person who dedicated more than four years of his life to helping people with reading disorders and learning difficulties. It’s great to see that his hard work is finally paying off.

Last, but not least – thanks to 24sata and the Digital Takeover jury. It feels amazing to receive recognition for all the hard work we put into this mobile app. The feeling is great, but our biggest reward is knowing that our work on OmoReader actually helped someone. It doesn’t get any better than that!
